There has been plenty of news that has been released by Halloween Horror Nights Creative Director, Michael Aiello, and his team. Back in May, we all learned that Jack the Clown would be making his return to the annual Halloween event at Universal Orlando and that this year’s event would be the biggest HHN in its history. Let’s take a look at any hints, rumors and full announcements that have been made piece by piece. Of course, that will start with what the event is most known for.

Houses and Scare Zones

Each year, there are a slew of haunted houses set up throughout the park. They are set up either in extended queues of rides or soundstages located on the in between Islands of Adventure and the Studios. A total of nine houses and five scare zones will be created around Universal Studios and areas are usually based off of intellectual properties from NBCUniversal or other big names in the entertainment industry.

Over the past few years, it wouldn’t be Halloween Horror Nights without “The Walking Dead.” The TV show aired on AMC has become the “Frozen” of HHN as a comparison for something that basically takes over. This year’s house will be a recreation of a flooded food bank with a ton of “flesh-hungry walkers” and hundreds of gallons of water.

Surprisingly, “Freddy vs Jason” was the first house announced for this year’s event. This house will bring guests into the middle of a battle between the two Universal horror icons similar to the 2003 film. The maze will also take guests to recognizable locations from the histories of the two characters.

“Insidious,” one of the top horror movies of the past few years (not really saying much there) was announced that the film trilogy will have a house at this year’s event. The house will bring guests face to face with the evil denizens of the Further:the Long Haired Fiend, the Lipstick-Face Demon, the Bride in Black, and the newest evil: The Man Who Can’t Breathe, according to the Universal Orlando blog. Guests will have to dodge the grasping hands of death as the Further will disorient any who travel into the great beyond.

On August 17th, HHN released information that the fourth house brings anarchy to the event. “The Purge” will go from scare zone areas in 2013 and 2014 to haunted house for the 2015 event. The 2013 film is set in a time frame where, at night, all crimes are considered legal. According to Michael Aiello, “guests will find themselves within arm’s reach of the most sadistic collection of killers imaginable.” Aiello also says that their only want and need is to express their right to purge.

We learned in May that Jack the Clown would be leading the annual event. What better way to celebrate the Silver Anniversary of HHN than with the most memorable icon of the annual event. Rumors have come up this year that the other memorable icons from the event would come back to join Jack as a part of his “Maniacs.” A video was released at the beginning of August with a mysterious shadow of a character after two guests read a message on a popcorn box. This leads most fans believing that this would be the return of “The Director” or “The Usher.” Perhaps maybe both. The second video that was released had the two guests receive a phone call from Jack before one was abducted. The third video should be released on August 18th with the final video released the next week. Rumors lead to “The Caretaker” and “The Storyteller” to be joining the event.

Stay tuned to Entertaining Orlando for more information on houses, scare zones, icons and more for Halloween Horror Nights once that information is released.
