Wet N Wild Orlando

Rumors over the past couple of months have been emerging about Universal Orlando Resort building a brand new water park on its property. Two days ago, a post surfaced from a member on the message board, Orlando United, linking a file with the South Florida Water Management District. On the Stormwater Report, it shows diagrams with specifics on “Project 533” taking place.

“The project is a proposed water theme park to be constructed to the south of the recently opened Cabana Beach Resort,” says the report. The site occupies about 25 acres of land with I-4 on the south side and Turkey Lake Road to the west of it.

When it comes to the slides at the park, it describes that a “volcano” will be constructed on the southern portion of the area. The question many have wondered though is what would happen to Wet N Wild, which is owned by NBCUniversal. Why have two water parks owned by the same company compete against each other within minutes of each other?

This is where the rumors get even better. Sources say that Wet N Wild will be closing with the popular slides being moved over to the new Universal water park. If that is the case, imagine “Black Hole” and “Disco H2O” with a new tropical island twist.

With all of this open land situated on I-Drive being taken away, what would go in it’s place? Those same sources are indicating that Golf Channel, owned by NBCUniversal, could partner with Dallas-based company TopGolf to bring one of its sports entertainment facilities to Orlando. This would be the perfect location for the collaboration. For those who have never heard of TopGolf, imagine the fun of going to the driving range but competing against your friends like you would in bowling.
