With Star Wars Weekends coming back in May, updates for the many different events that take place have slowly but surely been released to those that flock to the annual event. All the construction taking place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios plus a certain sing-a-long gaining popularity have things all shifted around.

First, the “Symphony in the Stars” fireworks will return to end the night with a pre-show to “Summon the Force” featuring the different character appearances. James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi on the animated series Star Wars: Rebels, will return as the host of Star Wars Weekends. Taylor has been either the host or co-host of the annual event since 2011.

The final return mentioned thus far is the “Jedi Mickey Star Wars Dine” at the Hollywood & Vine Restaurant. Instead of the typical “Disney Junior” characters featured, Jedi Mickey is joined by Leia Minnie, Darth Vader Goofy, Stormtrooper Donald and the lovable ewoks, known as Chip ‘n’ Dale “bring balance to the force” to control your appetite. Prices will be $57.99 for an adult (ages 9 and older) and $34.99 per child (ages 3 to 9).

This year sees two big changes from the Weekends last year. Darth Mall, the giant merchandise location for all of your Star Wars needs, will move from Soundstage 1, located by Toy Story Midway Mania, over to the Final Take Terminal, located near the Streets of America. The former location of Soundstage 1 is rumored to be expanded to accommodate additional capacity for TSMM.

As mentioned previously, the Premiere Theater, where most of the special sessions took place last year, is being occupied by the Frozen Sing-A-Long. Although the sing-a-long with Anna, Elsa and company is rumored to be moving to the former home of “The American Idol Experience,” the Premiere will not be available. So, those special sessions will be taking place in the Theater of the Stars, home to the Beauty and the Beast show. During SWW, Beauty and the Beast will only be taking place in the morning before its quick turnaround into Star Wars for the afternoon.

This is great for Star Wars fanatics that miss out on the shows due to FastPasses running out because Theater of the Stars has more capacity. However, seeing these weekends take place in May and June, the lack of air conditioning may have Jedis and members of the Sith using the force for more water during the Florida summer.

Star Wars Weekends begin May 15th through 17th and will run for five total weekends until June 12 through the 14th. Expect the next set of announcements to include Star Wars celebrities and where they will be headed for autographs and appearances.
