Finding the Best Wings in Orlando: East Coast Wings

East Coast Wings (ECW), in the Waterford Lakes area of east Orlando, is our second stop on the quest to find the best wings in Orlando. We ordered the sampler which comes with 30 wings in up to 5 different sauces. We ordered traditional hot, outwest ranch, honey mustard, Monterey and Key West.  Lets take a look at how they hold up when it comes to our different categories.

Appearance:

At first glance, they looked tasty with a decent sheen to them. The honey mustard appeared a bit gloppy for what I am used to but nothing disgusting. You could see the spices and zests used in the different sauces that have them included.

Taste:

Traditional – Pretty weak on the heat index for being “Hot”. The lack of flavor was a bit of a turn off.

Outwest Ranch – A bit of a surprise in the flavor category. Good heat with the coolness of ranch built in to one wing. The flavor was really good.

Honey Mustard – Not among my favorites but not bad. Good honey mustard flavor but a git slimey.

Monterey – The best surprise of the group. The roasted garlic and red peppers really made the sauce.

Key West – Tasty but not in my top 5 wings at ECW. The lime zest was noticeable but I think I was looking for a bit more citrus flavor.

Crispness:

All of the wings were done to a nice crispness. I would recommend ordering the wings extra crispy if you like a crunch from the skin, which I do.

Conclusion:

Overall a good wing eating experience and I will be back for more. As you can see above, some of the wing flavors were better than others but that is what’s nice about ECW – you have 75+ flavors to choose from. The fact that the traditional wasn’t even remotely close to what I think of as a traditional sauce is what ended up knocking them down to 3 from a good 3.5 wings.

Rating:

3/5 Wings
