Lafayette’s: Tops for Travelers; Locals Love It
Sep 28, 2016
Lafayette’s Restaurant and Bar at Pointe Orlando has a little something for everyone. While many spots in Orlando are popular among tourists or locals, not many are truly inviting enough to entice both. But we found travelers and Orlandoans alike truly enjoying their evening on a recent visit to Lafayette’s.
Lafayette’s Restaurant and Bar features indoor seating, as well as a pair of outdoor patios with their own bars. There is almost always live music. In fact, on our visit, we found two different musical acts playing at the same time – one inside and one on the patio out back. In addition to the great live music, numerous televisions are constantly airing all the most important games and sporting events.
Everyone we spoke to said the food was great and the drinks were wonderful and cold. But for the locals and the out-of-towners alike, the constant theme was the atmosphere.
Dave and Ena Watson were on their 13th trip to Orlando from the United Kingdom. They live in Stockport, which is near Manchester. They heard about Lafayette’s and Pointe Orlando at their hotel.
“We’re really enjoying it,” Mr. Watson said. “Other guests at our hotel have talked about the wonderful atmosphere. What’s really nice is we’re not party-goers, but the place is family-oriented. Anyone can come here and feel as though they can party or relax and have a cold beer and that is wonderful.”
Meanwhile, for local resident Geena Festa, being at Lafayette’s makes her feel like she’s out of town.
“It always makes me feel like I’m on vacation,” Festa said. “I like coming out here and not worrying about work or anything else. I’m just relaxed here. We say it all the time that we’re very lucky we live somewhere where people vacation. It puts Orlando in a new light for me. I live here.”
Eric Bartti and his wife Brandi are repeat visitors to Lafayette’s.
“We came with a couple friends of ours and went to a movie,” Eric said of his first visit. “We stopped and had a drink (at Lafayette’s) and I didn’t want to go to a movie.”
“Now, it’s date night for us,” Brandi chimed in. “We have a babysitter tonight, so here we are again. We like the live music. We like being outside. It’s fun.”
“We’re from Dr. Phillips and it’s about 12 minutes from our door to (Lafayette’s),” Eric said. “It’s just a great place to come and hang out. I could come here and watch a game or listen to live music all the time.”
On a layover during her first visit to Orlando, flight attendant Kathryn Aguilo just stumbled on Lafayette’s. But she was certainly glad she did.
“I was walking around, didn’t know where to eat, didn’t know where to go,” Aguilo said. “I really enjoy the outside bar. They said a live band was going to be playing. I like live music. I like being outside. The food looked amazing. The people were awesome. So, I just sat down. I’ll be back next time I have a layover in Orlando.”
Lafayette’s Restaurant and Bar is located on the second floor at Pointe Orlando and is open seven days a week. Sunday brunch is served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
