Where to Eat: I-Drive

Orlando Eye

I often get asked where to eat in certain areas of Orlando. Recently, with the opening of all of the new attractions in the area, it has been I-Drive that has been on the mouths of many. I-drive is filled with chains so it’s next to impossible to find a good local place actually on I-drive. Many or all of my selections will be chains but most of them are not ones you will find all over.

Here are a few of my favorite places to stop on I-drive.

Café Tu Tu Tango

8625 International Drive

Tu Tu Tango is my favorite stop on I-drive. The casual, artsy atmosphere and the tapas style menu always seems to hit the spot. The more people in your group, the more you get to share what everyone else orders. I highly recommend the jalapeno mac and cheese and the Cajun chicken egg rolls.

Brick House Tavern and Tap

8440 International Drive

There are a number of brew house style restaurants in the area, Brick House Just happens to be my favorite. They have a decent selection of beer on tap and a really good variety of food to sample. The deviled eggs are a good choice to start with and it’s hard to go wrong with one of their burgers. I tend to order the Gun Show burger when I’m there but the meatloaf and drunk chops are also great choices.

Tin Roof

8371 International Drive

This restaurant and concert venue is one of the newer additions to I-drive but has quickly become one of my favorites. They have live music every night and some great menu items to boot. The hot chicken torta is probably my favorite sandwich I’ve had. The spicy chicken has a great kick and the ranch potato salad does a great job of cooling the heat.

Texas De Brazil

5259 International Drive

You’re going to spend a little more here but it’s an all you can eat churrascaria. The salad bar is probably one of the best in Orlando and I have yet to find another Brazilian steakhouse in the area that cooks the meats quite as well as TDB. Be prepared for the meat sweats after though.

Chuy’s Tex-Mex

8123 International Drive

Chuy’s is a tex-mex chain but it’s far from what you would expect. The food is some of the better Mexican food in the area and the portions are massive. The first thing I do when I visit Chuy’s is to make sure the server brings some of creamy jalapeno sauce with the chips. I recommend the Chuychanga or the Tacos Al Carbon as a main.

Thai Thani

11025 International Drive

Not the most authentic Thai you will find in Orlando but it’s definitely tasty. I had it recommended to me by a colleague a number of years ago and it became a regular lunch sport for me when I worked in the area. The curries are all tasty and the pad thai was nothing to shake a stick at either. I’m also a fan of their thai tea as a drink or after meal desert as it is pretty sweet.

Hash House A Go Go

5350 International Drive

Although their lunch and dinner are tasty, this is my favorite breakfast spot on I-Drive. The corned beef hash is fresh made with large chunks of fresh cooked corned beef and cooked together with fresh potatoes and onions. The Sage fried chicken and waffles is a massive portion piled high to make it just that much more impressive. Don’t go to Hash House looking for a small breakfast, it doesn’t happen.

Did I miss your favorite place to grab a bite on I-Dive? Let me know in the comments.
